University of Victoria (B.C.). President's Committee on the Need for an Art Gallery
- Instelling
The Committee was established on March 29, 1972 by President Hugh Farquhar to consider the report of the Graphic Arts Committee, "An art gallery for the University of Victoria," and to determine the relationship of an art gallery to the present and future development of the Maltwood Art Museum, and to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. The Committee was chaired by Ian Campbell, Director of Campus Planning. The Committee recommended that a UVic art gallery be established as a distinct entity, and that it should cooperate with the Greater Victoria Art Gallery. A minority report by J.Freeman, Instructor in the History in Art Department, recommended that an art gallery should not be established.
