The Senate Committee on Academic Planning was established in 1967 to advise the Senate on the goals of the University, how the goals might be accomplished, and implications of alternative ways of pursuing the goals. The chairs of the Committee included Gerhart Friedmann, ca. 1972-73; and John Dewey, ca. 1975-76. The Committee replaced the President's Ad Hoc Advisory Committee in 1967, and was disbanded in 1976. It was replaced by the Senate Committee on Planning.

The Senate was established in 1963, and is responsible for the academic governance of the university. The University Secretary is responsible for the records of the Senate. The Secretary of the Senate has included: Dorothy Cruickshank, 1963-1964; Ronald R. Jeffels, 1964-1967; Ron J.P. Ferry, 1968-1991; Cecilia Freeman-Ward, 1990-1991 (Acting); Sheila Sheldon Collyer, 1991-2004, Julia Eastman, 2005-2018; and Carrie Andersen, 2018-present.

University of Victoria (B.C.). Shakespeare Music Project

The Shakespeare Music Project was undertaken in the late 1970s by Professors Bryan Gooch and David Thatcher, with contributions by Prof. Charles Haywood, Margaret Odean Long, and Nanna Schiodt, who was the Scandinavian collaborator. The project ended when the final volume of the Catalogue was produced in 1988. The multi-volume "A Shakespeare Music Catalogue," was a reference work that documents published and unpublished music written from Shakespeare's time to the present, which was related in any way to Shakespeare's life and works. It includes a selected bibliography of books, articles, and dissertations on the subject of Shakespeare and music.

The University Development Board assumed the responsibilities of the University Development Board of Victoria College in 1963. Floyd Fairclough was the Development Manager. The functions of the Board were assumed by the newly created Development Office in 1974.

The University Librarian's Office was established in 1963 to manage the University Libraries. The McPherson Library, the Curriculum Laboratory and the Map Library were opened on November 14, 1964. In 1974, the Diana Priestly Law Library was established. The University Librarian reports to the Vice-President Academic. Incumbents include: Dean W. Halliwell 1963-1988; Marnie Swanson, 1988-2011; Jonathan Bengtson 2012-present.

The University of Victoria Alumni Association was established in 1963, superseding the UBC Alumni Association, Victoria Branch, and the Victoria College Alumni Association. It originally served as a voluntary organization for alumni members but became part of the Public Relations Offices in 1986 and moved to the Development Office in 1988, thereby ending its voluntary status and becoming part of the official university administration.

Student Christian Movement of Canada. Victoria College Branch

The Victoria College branch of the Student Christian Movement was established in 1923. The club met regularly for lectures and discussions on theological issues. In 1956, an Advisory Board was established. The club continued at the University of Victoria after 1963.
