The British Columbia Ministry of Women's Equality was established in November 1991 when the Ministry of Women's Programs and Government Services and Minister Responsible for Families split up to form the Ministry of Women's Equality and the Ministry of Government Services.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of documents and ephemera from the British Columbia Ministry of Women's Equality. Includes a history of the ministry as well as documents about programs developed by the ministry.

The BC Ministry of Women's Equality was dissolved in early 2001. Before its dissolution, the Ministry's Stopping the Violence branch worked closely with the BC Ministry of Attorney General's Victim Assistance Programs, and with community-based service providers, to create and enhance policies, programs, and services designed to prevent and intervene in violence against women.
