Historia

David Hugh Courtney Gurr is a Canadian novelist and house designer. He was born in England and adopted as a child. He was educated in Sherborne Prep School and University College London before emigrating to Canada. He attended Belmont High School the Royal Canadian Naval College and the University of Victoria before serving in the Navy 1954-70 as an executive officer and computer analyst. From 1971 to 1980 he designed and built a number of homes in Victoria and vicinity. He has been a novelist, playwright and screen writer since 1976. His novels include: "Troika" (1979), "A Woman Called Scylla" (1981), "The Action of the Tiger" (1984), "An American Spy Story" (1984), "On the Endangered List" (1985), "The Ring Master" (1987), "The Voice of the Crane" (1989), "Arcadia West" (1994) plus various thrillers under pseudonyms. In 2012 he wrote a "novel autobiography", "The Charlatan Variations: A Novel Autobiography" (2012). His plays are: "Leonora" (1984) and "The Ring Play: An Evening with Hitler" (1991). He has also coauthored two screenplays with George Cosmatos.
