Board records

Series consists of the records of the Board of Directors, arranged into seven sub-series: Correspondence, 1963-1988; Directors, 1969-1989; Protocol statements, 1981-1986; Meetings, 1966-1988, predominantly 1980-1988; Legal documents, 1964-1985; AGM reports and plans, 1966-1988; and Kipling photo bequest, [1966?]. Included within this series are records pertaining to the structure and membership of the Board; the incorporation of the Bastion Theatre Society and subsequent name change; reports, plans, and meeting minutes; and a photograph with an attached newspaper clipping on verso. Photograph features Rudyard Kipling with other thespians.

Employment records

Series consists of employment records, arranged into five sub-series: Positions, 1968-1988; Associations and unions, 1982-1988; Duties and wages, 1971-1988; Youth and volunteer programs, 1978-1988; and Actor and actress portfolios, 1985-1988. Included in this series are records pertaining to managerial roles and responsibilities; correspondence and agreements with theatre associations and unions; staff job descriptions and salaries; and volunteer activities and youth employment. Series also contains acting portfolios with curricula vitae and portrait photographs.

Education records

Series consists of materials reflective of the education and outreach activities of the Bastion Theatre Company of British Columbia, arranged into five sub-series: Theatre school, 1965-1988; Theatre-in-education, 1980-1988; Outreach, 1977-1987; Youth tours, 1974-1985; and Photographs, 1968-1987. Included in this series are materials pertaining to the operation and marketing of the Theatre School; teaching manuals and correspondence pertaining to the Craigflower Schoolhouse Project, 1986-1987; outreach program materials; and photographs of youth productions. The Youth tours sub-series contains materials generated through the Theatre's youth tour program, the largest in Canada at the time, including itineraries, correspondence, teacher kits, contracts, show programs, feedback questionnaires, and scripts.

Marketing records

Series consists of records generated by the Bastion Theatre Company of British Columbia through the marketing and promotions of their productions and activities, arranged into five series: Campaign management, 1965-1988; Print media, 1971-1988; Programs, 1963-1988; Audio/visual media, 1978-88; and Posters and displays, 1982-1988. Included in this series are the records of the Marketing Committee, 1977-1988; brochures and other promotional ephemera; news releases and press clippings; scrapbooks; theatre programs; audio/visual recordings of radio advertisements, interviews, and theatre performances; and production posters.

Administrative records

Series consists of the administrative records of the Bastion Theatre Company of British Columbia, arranged into eight series: Organization, 1963-1988; Correspondence, 1963-1988; Canadian associations, 1972-1987; McPherson Playhouse, 1963-1988; Subscription and box office records, 1971-1988; Facility proposals, 1968-1987; Legal agreements, 1975-1989; and Producing agreements, 1966-1988. Included in this series are office records, histories, annals, reports, inventories, and organizational plans; notes and a sound recording of an interview of Peter Mannering for "A History of Bastion Theatre," an M.A. thesis submitted to UVIC's Department of Theatre, by Irene Teresa Barber, 1975; architectural drawings; and legal agreements and correspondence.

Financial records

Series consists of budgetary and finance documents kept and produced by the the administration of the Bastion Theatre Company of British Columbia, arranged into five sub-series: Auditor's reports, 1973-1988; Finance Committee, 1985-1988; Budget statements, 1976-1988; General ledgers and journals, 1963-1988; and Banking and accounting, 1972-1988. Included in this series are materials pertaining to the suspension of operations in October 1988.

Series consists of records pertaining to the Bastion Theatre Company of British Columbia's fundraising activities, including grant applications. The series is arranged into nine sub-series: Canada Council grants, 1973-1988; British Columbia grants, 1974-1988; Municipal grants, 1969-1988; Foundations, 1975-1986; Donors and members, 1965-1988; Corporate sponsors, 1969-1988; Special events, 1980-1988; Debentures and endowments, 1980-1984; and Fundraising Committee records, 1969-1988. Included in this series are reports, correspondence, grant applications, meeting minutes, and materials from fundraising events and efforts, including cookbooks and promotional photographs.

Production records

Series consists of records from productions by the Bastion Theatre Company of British Columbia, arranged into six sub-series: Mainstage productions, 1975-1988; Prompt scripts, 1965-1988, predominantly 1974-1988; Play scripts, 1980-1988; Studio productions, 1976-1988; Production planning, 1965-1988; and Photographs, 1963-1988. Included in this series are scripts, musical scores, correspondence, contracts, production notes, applications, budgets, schedules, floor plans, photographs, and slides.
