File contains records from Moore's time in the Royal Marines Band and the Royal Canadian Navy. RMB material includes a bookmark from the RMB School of Music, Certificate of Service in the Royal Marines, Contract of Enlistment, correspondence (chiefly letters of reference), Certificate of Service in the Royal Canadian Navy, Application For... Professional Examination, Certificates of Education, Certificate of Discharge, Customs Canada - Settlers' Effects Entry, and a 1944 newspaper clipping, "How the Scharnhorst Was Trapped".

RCN material includes correspondence, pension contribution ledgers, military association membership cards, Certificate of Service from the Canadian Forces, Canadian Service leave authorization, and a photocopy of his certificate of service in the Royal Marine Forces.

Military reminiscences

File contains military narratives, draft narratives, logs, and correspondence chiefly related to Charles Moore's time in the Royal Marines. Narratives written by Charles Moore include an account of travels aboard the H.M.S. Belfast from June 1946 to March 1947, and "Variations on a Theme", a short musical history of the Royal Canadian Navy. File also contains a transcription of the January 3, 1944 newspaper article, "How the Scharnhorst Was Trapped: Personal Narrative of Admiral Sir Bruce Fraser".

Photograph album

File consists of a photograph album with an embossed green cover and kraft paper. Inscription inside front cover reads, "From, Mother. March 22nd, 1947". Subjects of photographs include Charles Moore during his service in the Royal Marines, naval ships, scenes and landscapes from travels with the Marines, fellow bandmates and soldiers, military bands, military parties and entertainment, the Hong Kong Light Orchestra, Hiroshima before and after the atomic bomb, local landmarks and temples, Japanese families, local people, and Moore's family including wife and children upon immigration to Canada. Album also includes two Canadian Immigration Identification Cards for Moore and his wife Violet. Places identified include Hong Kong, Hiroshima, Malta, Shanghai, Kota Kinabalu (Jesselton), Tokyo, Istanbul, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Nanjing (Nanking), Japan, Malacca, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Vancouver, B.C.

The fonds consists of textual records, photographs and ephemera from Charles Moore's service in the English Royal Marines Band and the Royal Canadian Naden Band in Esquimalt, B.C. The fonds is divided into four series: textual records, ephemera, photographs, and sheet music. Textual records include official documents and certificates, correspondence, a resume, military narratives, newspaper clippings, and drawings. Ephemera includes medals, badges, clothing and accessories, souvenirs, small music equipment, a cassette, and diary. Photographs include a green photograph album and photographs rehoused from a blue binder, depicting subjects such as military bands, Moore's fellow soldiers and bandmates, naval ships, scenes from countries visited by the Royal Marines Band after WWII, and Moore's family. Sheet music includes arrangements by Moore for instruments and conductor, as well as his original composition, Original March.
