This series consist of manuscripts, drafts, and typescripts for a Rain Song, Swimming With Turtles, Play on the Water, Going Down in History, The Only Country in the World, Kissing the Body of My Lord, For the Love of Hockey, A Dancing Star, and a variety of poems. There are book reviews for A Dancing Star, Pacific Sand, and Wrestling with Angels. The series also includes incoming and outgoing correspondence between Beardsley and various friends, fellow writers, and acquaintances. There are Beardsley’s journals and diaries that he kept from 1969 to 2015, and reviews written by Beardsley for the Times Colonist Victoria from 1979-1993. Finally, there are also poetry reading promotions and photographs.

Series consists for correspondence between Beardsley and Peter Newman, Jean Baird, Jeremy Kinsman, and the Greater Victoria Public library. There is also birthday preparations for Beardsley’s 75th birthday, his C.V. which lists his scholarly papers and academic achievements, and an event flyer for the Canadian Council for the Arts. Series also includes a mixture of manuscripts and transcripts of a variety of poems and short stories. There are also handwritten brainstorming notes on hotel paper and airplane bags as well as also subject research mostly made up of Wikipedia articles.

This series consists of correspondence between Beardsley and Jeremy Kinsman, the planning, drafts, research, and edits for Beardsley's memoir Creation of a Unicorn, the Essay Transcendental Al, some poetry, and his essay Why We Are/Who We Are. The series also consists of Beardsley's Notebooks.

Book reviews for the Times Colonist, correspondence and work regarding the Al Purdy-Doug Beardsley Papers collaborative work, There are also many hand written journals kept by Beardsley from approximately 1969-2017.
