Fonds consists of records related to Alan Austin’s activities as an educator and phycologist, including materials generated through major research projects and student projects, arranged into four series: 1. Seaweed Inventory Project; 2. Victoria Phenology Project; 3. Teaching and student material; and 4. Aquatic ecology projects. The Seaweed Inventory Project (SIP), in particular, is a valuable, detailed record and baseline survey of a substantial part of the coastline of BC, and the vegetation and biota (thus measurable on a global scale) supported at the time of the surveys done in 1972 and 1974. These data stand as a permanent record against which any coastal changes can be compared and measured. The sedentary, attached nature of coastal biota makes it particularly responsive to, and thus a sensitive indicator of changes in their environment. Forces of change include oil spills, toxic spills, runoff from land developments, marina construction, and natural catastrophic events. Series 1 has been arranged into four sub-series: SIP reports; SIP films and photographs; SIP correspondence and field notes; and SIP reference literature.

The fonds consists of correspondence, articles, manuscripts of Modern Canadian Economic History, 1871-1971, and research project files.

The fonds includes the research records and documents of the research group created and collected in the course of the project, which include theses, essays, interviews, papers, articles, news paper clippings, press releases, statistics, reports, acts and bills, oral history interview transcripts and tapes, and other records relating to the subject area of the project. The files also include transcripts of interviews with B C politicians and government administrators and research material gathered from a number of sources. Subjects include aboriginal issues, economic development, education, energy, environment, health, labour, land use, the legislative process, federalism, forestry, political parties, public service, and women's experience. The fonds consists of the following series: Catalogue series,1978-1983, Data Bank series, 1952-1983, and Oral history interview series, 1964-1987. All files were assigned a Data Bank Number by project staff (DB No. 1-1058). Several unnumbered files have been assigned numbers by Archives staff (DB No. 1059-1066).

Fonds consists of records predominately related to various aspects of Doyle's professional life as a published poet and literary critic, as well as his teaching and committee work at the University of Victoria. Included are research materials, correspondences, and drafts for Doyle's biography of Richard Aldington, "Rachard Aldington: A Biography" (Macmillan, 1989); his biography of American poet William Carlos Williams, "William Carlos Williams and the American Poem" (Macmillan, 1982); his publication on James K. Baxter, "James K. Baxter" (Twayne Publishers, 1976); his "Earth Meditations" poetry; and manuscripts from the poetry journal "Tuatara" for which Doyle served as editor. University of Victoria related records include course notes,1981-88; and committee papers from the Committee on Alternatives for British Columbia (CABC),1983-1985 and the End the Arms Race Committee, 1983-86.

The fonds consists of historical notes, student notes, PhD research data on squid and sardines (including photographic data), lecture notes by subject, and course notes; and files from: Victoria College Biology Department (1958-67), Victoria College Building Committee (1957-58), Victoria College Faculty Association (1952-63), Victoria College Board (1957-63), and Victoria College Faculty and Staff Association, (1949-55).

The fonds consists of two accessions of material relating to Charlotte Girard academic career, teaching career and publications, including correspondence, research work and drafts of papers, drafts of book, "Canada in World Affairs, vol,.XIII" and Girard's Ph.D. dissertation.

Anfield, Jackman's uncle; and other ephemera collected by Jackman.
