The collection consists of two manuscripts:-- "The Fathers' Indian Mutiny Letters, 1857 - 1859" which consists of Xeroxed, typed transcripts of letters from J. H. Wyatt, writing from India, to his wife, Jane, "Jeanie" in Aberdeen. There are 77 letters plus a note: "Maude's Battery at the Relief of Lucknow 25 Set. 1857. By Lt. Col. M.E.S. Laws. OBE. M.C. R.A. (ret'd.) Taken from the R.A. Journal, July, 1953", 6 pp. The second is "Military Memories: Part I. First World War,1914-19; Part II. Mesopotamia, Egypt, Turkey, 1919-23; Part III. Royal Air Force, 1923-28; Part IV, Second World War 1938-1945 by W. F. A. Preston, Major late Royal Artillery, Newmarket, Ontario, 1965." 137 pp.

Hal Lawrence collection

The collection consists of audio tapes of 120 interviews that Lawrence conducted between 1980 and 1990 with naval personnel, several female officers and ratings. The collection includes several interview transcripts, correspondence relating to one interview, a captain's night order book (HMCS Portage), and the text of an address. The additional collections consist of manuscripts for books and articles written by Hal Lawrence, correspondence, clippings and photographs related to his navel career. The collection also include personal and professional documents and correspondence, naval oral history material, several naval maps and transparencies, miscellaneous publications and ephemera. Philip Hobsbaum collection

The collection consists of manuscripts and typescripts of The Group; manuscripts of poems; a manuscript of Hobsbaum's doctoral dissertation "A Theory of Communication", with holograph corrections by William Empson, Professor of English at Sheffield University; and letters to Hobsbaum from Empson relating to the supervision of Hobsbaum's doctoral thesis. The Group manuscripts are by Taner Baybars, Martin Bell, Alan Brownjohn, Julian Cooper, Anne Dyke, Christopher Hampton, Arthur Jacobs, Rosemary Joseph, Owen Leeming, Christopher Levenson, Edward Lucie-Smith, George MacBeth, Robin McLaren, Adrian Mitchell, Margaret Owen, Michael Pickering, Peter Porter, George Raphael, and Peter Redgrove.

Robert Graves collection

The collection consists of Graves' autograph diary (1935-1939), with enclosures including letters from his children, photographs, clippings, and transcripts of poems, articles and letters; correspondence written by Graves to various people, including Isla Cameron, Selwyn Jepson, Aemilia Laracuen, Andrew Mylett, and Raphael Patai; poetry worksheets (1965-1970) and prose and poetry worksheets (1970); manuscripts including essays, reviews, forewords, prefaces, articles, lectures, and for the works "King Jesus", "The Anger of Achilles", "Hebrew Myths: The Book of Genesis", "Greek Gods and Heroes", "An Ancient Castle", "La Luna de los Perros", and "Juvenalia and Other Poems"; photographs; and drawings of Majorca by Paul Hogarth. The collection is arranged in lots as its various parts were acquired not as a single purchase but from different book dealers at different times. The collection also consists of a copy of a letter from Robert Graves to UBC chemist Lionel Harrison with sample pages from the poetry book it refers to. The collection also consists of a portrait of RG by John Ulbricht done in 1968.

Dolmen Press collection

The collection consists of manuscripts, typescripts, page proofs, galley proofs, correspondence and original illustrations of early books published by the Dolmen Press, comprising some of the work of about 25 writers. Included among these authors are Austin Clarke, Padraic Colum, Thomas Kinsella, and Richard Murphy. Also included are translations of earlier works in Irish and an edition of one of W. B. Yeats' works.

John Gawsworth collection

The collection consists of letters from A.R. Orage, 1933-1934, manuscripts by Armstrong for "Focus" 21, "The Literary Digest", etc. (1945-1970) plus a review, a note, and a mss for "The Poetry Review" by G.S. Fraser, 1950-1952. Also included in the collection are enclosures from "Ten Contemporaries" [1932 & 1933]. These enclosures consist of research material and correspondence: re the publication of the two volumes, and the writers included in them.
