Wendy Morton fonds

The fonds consists of poetry and other writing works by Morton, video cassettes, CDs, and photographs from writing workshops that Morton attended, notebooks containing correspondence, planning, and writing. The Elder Project was a job that Morton worked on that involved going around to various First Nations communities to collect stories and poems from First Nations Elders as they shared their stories with their younger generations. The collected poems were then printed into small booklets. The fonds consists of the manuscripts and transcripts of these booklets, some of the booklets themselves, as well as permission release forms.

The fonds consists of correspondence from Jim Campbell to Malcolm Archibald (1976-1981). Also includes an Easter 1976 b&w photograph of Malcolm Archibald, Patricia Hughes and Jim Campbell; a copy of Bulldozer newsletter; and an unpublished article by Stu Vickars for Kick It Over (2007). Also includes a CD-R copy of an interview with Jim Campbell from the 1990s re the Ontario "Dragonfly Commune" from the 1970s-1980s. The fonds reflects Babarash’s activities primarily relating to prisons and prisoners’ rights, and also consists of audio cassettes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, posters, publications, sketches, video cassettes, and an extensive collection of newsletters. Newsletter titles include Akwesasne Notes - Mohawk Nation, Black Panther: Black Community News Service, Crossroad, The Insurgent: Newsletter of the Committee to Fight Repression, No more gages: Women’s Prison Newsletter.

The fonds consists firstly, of correspondence from many well known writers such as Margaret Atwood, Doug Beardsley, bill bissett, George Bowering, Marilyn Bowering, Robert Bringhurst, Barry Callaghan, Lorna Crozier, William Deverell, Timothy Findley, John Glassco, Robert Harlow, David Homel, Patrick Lane, Dennis Lee, Charles Lillard, Dorothy Livesay, Susan Musgrave, John Newlove, Sharon Olds, Michael Ondaatje, P.K. Page, George Payerle, Al Purdy, Joe Rosenblatt, Jane Rule, Jane Urqhuhart, and Sean Virgo. It is arranged in alphabetic series. Secondly, there are prose and poetry manuscripts. These are roughly divided into poetry and prose, with some large sections of late drafts intact. Thirdly, there are materials relating to the Writer's Union of Canada, Writers in Electronic Residence, political press clippings, material about his libel trial, and miscellaneous printed material.

The fonds consists of correspondence with George Woodcock, editor of "Canadian Literature" in 1971, re his submission of a review of Robin Skelton's poetry, plus a first draft of the review; correspondence with Rampant Lions Press (Will and Sebastian Carter), 1976-1977, regarding the printing of a collection of Hutchison's broadsides, plus copies of the broadsides; manuscripts, correspondence, artwork, notebooks, research materials and miscellaneous [This large collection (1996-020) is only roughly sorted and is on loan]. Notable correspondence includes George Woodcock, Susan Musgrave, Dennis Brown and the Rampant Lion Press.

Fonds includes musical scores and librettos, programs, photographs, scrapbook and four unpublished plays: "Murder Pattern," 1936; "Ascend as the Sun"; "Earth Song", by Herman Voaden; and "The Dragon", by Bertram Brooker.
