Chad Evans fonds

The fonds consists primarily of drafts and research materials used to write his book "Frontier Theatre: A History of Nineteenth Century Theatrical Entertainment in the Canadian Far West and Alaska", published in 1982. Fonds includes musical scores and librettos, programs, photographs, scrapbook and four unpublished plays: "Murder Pattern," 1936; "Ascend as the Sun"; "Earth Song", by Herman Voaden; and "The Dragon", by Bertram Brooker.

The manuscripts include a typescript of "Manuscript of (Mrs.) Peggy Pemberton-Carter written during internment in Lunghua Prison Camp, Shanghai", accompanying watercolours by Deirdre Fee and Lilian Schlee; typescript of "Dragon Aunt Remembers, 1900-1980", unpublished; photocopy of typescript "The Curious Cage", and an extensive photograph collection of the development of the Abkhazi garden.

J. H. Ansley fonds

The fonds consists of four volumes of photographs, the first of which also contains drawings. The drawings commence in 1846 (done by family friend) and recommence in 1884 (done by JHA and friends). The final drawing seems to be 1890. The photographs cover the period 1884-1909. They begin in England and also cover Ireland, St. Helena, South Africa, and Scotland. Some have a military setting but some are scenic and social.

The fonds consists of records produced by Skelton during the course of his life and career, documenting his activities as a poet, scholar, teacher, prose fiction writer, critic, editor and white witch. Records relate to activities including his co-founding of the University of Victoria Department of Creative Writing, his editorship of "The Malahat Review", his involvement with the Lotus Press in England and the Pharos Press and Sono Nis Press in Victoria, his collaboration with Ann Saddlemyer on the "Collected Works of J. M. Synge" and "The World of W. B. Yeats", a symposium and exhibition held in 1965 honouring the centenary of Yeats' birth, and his association with such writers as Wilfred Rowland Childe and Bonamy Dobree. Skelton's correspondents include T. S. Eliot, W.H. Auden, Robert Graves, Margaret Atwood, Earle Birney, Bonamy Dobree, Paul Theroux, Kathleen Raine and many others.
