Correspondence

Subseries consists of correspondence regarding the formation on BTC's Board, internal memoranda concerning management crises, as well as interagency letters of interest. Single letters are arranged chronologically. Correspondence pertaining to BTC management during 1967 may be found in the Administration Series. The limited number of early correspondence documents may be attributed to the fact that several reside in Peter Mannering's personal papers.

Directors

Subseries consists mainly of selected typescript directories listing members and their contact addresses. Complete Board membership from l964 to 1988 may be ascertained by examining Correspondence (1.1) and Programs (8. ).

Protocol Statements

Subseries consists of three Board Manuals with organization charts, a 1 p.ts. Reading List, ca. 1981, and a guideline document from The Council for Business and the Arts in Canada, ca. 1984.

Meetings

Subseries consists of minutes, meeting circulars, agendas are arranged chronologically according to the date of the meeting itself (where known). Documentation for the 1960s and 1970s is so sparse as to suggest files were either removed or lost, though the number and regularity of meetings increased over time.

Reports and Plans

Subseries consists of photocopies of Annual [Financial] Reports, proposed Bylaws, a Debenture Issue Information Circular, and Business Plan for the 1988/89 operating year, which failed.

Kipling Photo Bequest

Item appears to be ca. 1966 card-mounted photograph taken from a [1887] glass-plate negative. Photograph is of a scene from the amateur theatrical production of The Squire in Simba, India, 1887, featuring Rudyard Kipling with other thespians, all noted in ink hol.: "Miss Bluitt,Capt. Carey, 74th High~, 'Tottie H', Mrs. (Kate) Warter, Mrs. Lovitt and Mrs. Walker". Reverse of card has attached newspaper clipping, 16 November 1966, which may represent the approximate date of the bequest to BTC from the estate of Luella Goddard, mother of Mrs. Michael A. Bartkow. Photo item is rare fragile, and needs to be demounted and conserved from acid damage. Researchers should handle copy from enclosed 35 mm b/w film, and the original should be restricted from all but essential handling.

Positions

Subseries consists of typed letters, memos, news releases and agreements pertaining to specific management positions and duties. The documents do not represent a very coherent subseries because the personnel records kept by the BTC administration were sparse. All positions are listed on the Programs, and are documented in Administrative Correspondence. To protect the personal privacy of individual applicants access to File 2.1.10 is restricted for 15 years, until September 2009.

Associations and Unions

Subseries consists of 5 cm of correspondence with the Canadian Actors Equity Association, Equity information circulars, and an agreement with the International Alliance Of Theatrical Stage Employees And Motion Picture Machine Operators (I.A.T.S.E.). The I.A.T.S.E. agreement, 1988, radically increased production operating costs for BTC.

Duties and Wages

Subseries consists of ts. job descriptions for most production and administration positions during the 1970s and 1980s. Production staff salaries and wage scales are discussed in internal BTC memos, including lay-off payouts in 1988.
