16th Battalion (The Canadian Scottish) fonds

The fonds consists of records generated and utilized by the 16th Battalion (The Canadian Scottish). The fonds is arranged into 11 alphabetically organized series. These series include aerial photographs of the Western Front, information of a World War One operation at the city of Lens, orders issued to the Battalion, personnel records, photographs, publications (including early editions of "The Brazier"), reports, scrapbooks, information on training, minutes of meetings of the Veterans Association of the 16th Battalion, and a design for the 16th Battalion war memorial.

Administrative records

Series consists of the administrative records of the Bastion Theatre Company of British Columbia, arranged into eight series: Organization, 1963-1988; Correspondence, 1963-1988; Canadian associations, 1972-1987; McPherson Playhouse, 1963-1988; Subscription and box office records, 1971-1988; Facility proposals, 1968-1987; Legal agreements, 1975-1989; and Producing agreements, 1966-1988. Included in this series are office records, histories, annals, reports, inventories, and organizational plans; notes and a sound recording of an interview of Peter Mannering for "A History of Bastion Theatre," an M.A. thesis submitted to UVIC's Department of Theatre, by Irene Teresa Barber, 1975; architectural drawings; and legal agreements and correspondence.

The fonds consists of correspondence with George Woodcock, editor of "Canadian Literature" in 1971, re his submission of a review of Robin Skelton's poetry, plus a first draft of the review; correspondence with Rampant Lions Press (Will and Sebastian Carter), 1976-1977, regarding the printing of a collection of Hutchison's broadsides, plus copies of the broadsides; manuscripts, correspondence, artwork, notebooks, research materials and miscellaneous [This large collection (1996-020) is only roughly sorted and is on loan]. Notable correspondence includes George Woodcock, Susan Musgrave, Dennis Brown and the Rampant Lion Press.

correspondence with writers and publishers. Correspondents include Henry Miller, Anaïs Nin, Lawrence Durrell, Anne Rives and Neville Spearman Ltd. The fonds also consists of 5 watercolours by Alfred Perlès; correspondence to Jacqueline Randal from Anne Barret and her daughter, Isobel; newspaper articles; Alfred Perlès' typewriter; and a watercolour print by Henry Miller.

Additionally, there is correspondence from Irving Layton and others.
