The collection consists of Downton's handwritten (photocopied) reminiscences of the Great War, 1914-1918. Also included is "A short account of a pilgrimage made by my wife and myself" in 1928. There are two copies of each. The second copy has a handwritten note to Downton from Reg (Roy) in 1968. The first copy has the stamp of G. Smedley Andrews.
The fonds consists of a handwritten bio of Gooch, plus a typed transcription and carbon (possibly by Daphne Fiske). Also included are photocopies of Gooch's handwritten journal comprised of "A 'free run' in the balloon 'Vivid'" [October 18th 1909, 31 l.]. This account was published in The Malahat Review No. 11, 1969; and "Protagonists", his account of moving the artillery battery, of which he was the commanding officer, from England to Salonica and through the campaign there until his discharge. [Oct 1915- Dec 1918, 131 l.]

The fonds consists of a carbon typescript transcription of part of Parker's personal diary. It was possibly done by Parker himself. It covers the last part of his training in England and his involvement in the Sicilian/Italian campaign until he was wounded in action.
The collection consists of two volumes. The first volume is hardcover and contains clippings from Toronto newspapers. Some of the text extends into the 1930s but all of the photographs are from 1914-1919. The second volume is unbound. Its clippings are from an unknown source. Included with this volume are some loose clippings from the same sources, together with newspapers from Hamilton and Toronto.

The fonds consists of records generated and utilized by the 16th Battalion (The Canadian Scottish). The fonds is arranged into 11 alphabetically organized series. These series include aerial photographs of the Western Front, information of a World War One operation at the city of Lens, orders issued to the Battalion, personnel records, photographs, publications (including early editions of "The Brazier"), reports, scrapbooks, information on training, minutes of meetings of the Veterans Association of the 16th Battalion, and a design for the 16th Battalion war memorial.
