The fonds consists of a diary that contains the rather irregular entries made by a man of twenty-five years, employed by the Countess of Carnarvon as a tutor for her son Aubrey Nigel Henry Molyneaux Herbert (1880-1923), prior to Aubrey's going up to Oxford. Aubrey later served as a Member of Parliament for South Somerset. His daughter, Gabriel, was the second wife of Evelyn Waugh. The diary commences in April at Porto Fino, Liguria, and later records trips to Wiesbaden, Cologne, and London. He then begins it again in the French countryside. The diary ends in July.

Fonds consists of records related to two major projects conducted by Aqua-Tex Scientific Consulting. Fonds has been arranged into series according to project: 1. Photopoint monitoring project of urban creeks on southern Vancouver Island consists of a final report and photographic field data collected for Blenkinsop Creek, Colwood Creek, Latoria Creek, Leeds Creek and Swan Trestle (1998); 2. the comprehensive water quality monitoring plan for the Kootenai River Basin of British Columbia, Montana and Idaho project consists of a final report (2000).

Arabic manuscripts collection

The collection consists of six items:
1) En'am-i Serif [Turkish calligraphic manuscript].- consists of several chapters of the Qur'an, Arabic and Ottoman and Turkish prayers, calligraphic rondels and seals, hilyes, and miniature paintings of the Kaba, the Prophet's Mosque at Medina, his personal belongings such as his cloak, prayer beads etc., his hand and foot print and similar images. Special Collections had slides made of this manuscript. A second set of these slides is available in the Slide Library (History in Art Dept.).

2) al-Jazri, Mohammed. - consists of a single leaf from an 18th century religious manuscript, "Hassi Hasin" (Prayer and Contemplation). It is written in Arabic (probably in Turkey) in the Nashki hand. It may be an Ishmaeli text. It is illuminated, gilded and decorated with a floral motif.

3) Firdawsi. Shah Nameh. consists of a single leaf from an 18th century copy.

4) Koran. India. 17th -18th century?

6) Maghribi Qur'an (Koran) Bifolium. Late 10th or 11th century. Kufic script.

Aram Saroyan collection

The collection consists mainly of a photocopied typescript of Aram Saroyan's "Cloth: an electric novel". Also included are a handwritten letter to Tom Clark re "Cloth" and mentioning Ted Berrigan, Paul Carroll, Steve Katz, and Philip Whalen; a corrected typescript signed by Tom Clark which seems to be intended as a preface to "Cloth"; clippings from "Poetry (Chicago)" of Aram Saroyan selection of material from Louis Zukovsky; and a clipping from Rolling Stone? of a picture of Randy Newman.

Archibald Galbraith fonds

The fonds consists of handwritten correspondence from 1844-1884 between Archibald Galbraith and his family. The content of the correspondence from 1844-1855 mainly concern Archibald Galbraith's experiences fighting in India, and the correspondence from 1857-1884 are focused on his later family life. There are also typewritten transcription copies of the correspondence. The fonds also includes two photographs, one depicting Archibald Galbraith and one depicting his daughter, Flora McDonald. There are newspaper clippings from three editions of Glasgow Herald's Saturday Extra in August 1971, which ran a series on the correspondences and experiences of Archibald Galbraith; and a clipping from an unidentified newspaper describing the Battle of Chillianwallah in the Second Sikh War.
