The collection consists of two medieval manuscript fragments, two incunabula, and a Herodian coin.

Incunabulum

Incunabulum, 31.5 X 43.5 cm, 1477, leaf from Pantheologia of Reynerus de Pisis. Includes the following description: 'A page from the Pantheologia of Reynerus de Pisis printed at Nuremburg by Anton Koberger in 1477. With the invention of moveable type in the middle of the fifteenth century, books were printed on paper and in unlimited quantity. These books printed before 1501, known as "incunabula", imitated the forms of contemporary manuscripts. Since readers were accustomed to the decoration of manuscripts, coloured initials were added to the printed page by hand.'

An'am-i Sharif, Manuscript

The accrual consists of En'am-i Serif [Turkish calligraphic manuscript]. Manuscript consists of several chapters of the Qur'an, Arabic and Ottoman and Turkish prayers, calligraphic rondels and seals, hilyes, and miniature paintings of the Kaba, the Prophet's Mosque at Medina, his personal belongings such as his cloak, prayer beads etc., his hand and foot print and similar images. Special Collections had slides made of this mss. See Acc. 2002-006. A second set of these slides is available in the Slide Library (History in Art Dept.). Turkish mss: 412 pp.; calligrapher: Mustapha Eyyub Efendi. Thesis by Aleandra Bain available.1205 [1790]. Date in accordance with the Islamic calendar.

The fonds consists of correspondence, sales lists, exhibition catalogues and lists, photographs, clippings, sketches, poems and calligraphy, scrapbooks and notebooks, teaching materials, curricula vitae and biographical documents, publications, and seals and other objects used by Wise in his art practice. Correspondents include Robert Amos, Pat Martin Bates, Pat Bovey, Brian Brett, Lin Chien-Shih, Stephen Cummings, Fleming Jorgensen, Stephen Gislason, Colin and Sheila Graham, Robin Hopper, Nick and Karin Koerner, Ramon Kubicek, Lobsang Lhalungpa, Chin-Shik Lin, Brian Longworth, Max Maynard, Avon Neal, Gary Lee Nova, Toni Onley, P.K. Page, Syn Richards, Martin Segger, Doris Shadbolt, Madeleine Shields, Robin Skelton, Huston Smith, Pete Trower, George Woodcock, and Myken Woods. The fonds has been arranged into four series: art practice; biographical; publications and essays by others; and teaching. The art practice series consists of five sub-series: photographs; posters; exhibition catalogues; correspondence; prose, poetry and small works; and notebooks, scrapbooks and clippings.
