Item is a photograph from an album of World War One-related photographs in the William Okell Holden Dodds fonds. Brigadier General Dodds joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1914 and was commanding officer of the 5th Canadian Division Artillery and served in France from 1917-1918.

Fonds consists of research files for his private consulting work, with some material by colleagues and students from the Centre for Public Sector Studies mixed in. Most of the files contain photocopies of studies and submission by native bands and organizations, government documents and reports, journal articles, brochures, and clippings. Many have been originally marked as attachments, but some of the number sequences are no longer complete. There are very few holograph markings or notes, and hardly any manuscript material.

Photograph album

File consists of a photograph album with an embossed green cover and kraft paper. Inscription inside front cover reads, "From, Mother. March 22nd, 1947". Subjects of photographs include Charles Moore during his service in the Royal Marines, naval ships, scenes and landscapes from travels with the Marines, fellow bandmates and soldiers, military bands, military parties and entertainment, the Hong Kong Light Orchestra, Hiroshima before and after the atomic bomb, local landmarks and temples, Japanese families, local people, and Moore's family including wife and children upon immigration to Canada. Album also includes two Canadian Immigration Identification Cards for Moore and his wife Violet. Places identified include Hong Kong, Hiroshima, Malta, Shanghai, Kota Kinabalu (Jesselton), Tokyo, Istanbul, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Nanjing (Nanking), Japan, Malacca, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Vancouver, B.C.

Millar from an album depicting scenes of the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Valcartier Camp, at Quebec, and at Gaspe Harbour immediately prior to sailing to Britain in 1914. Millar was a staff photographer of the Montreal Daily Star and produced the album in 1915.
