Fonds consists of 4 series: the Frank Sylvester series, ca. 1862-1908; the Cecelia Davies Sylvester series, ca. 1854-1928; Family ephemera series, 1867-1918, and Photographs, ca. 1870-1950. The Frank Sylvester series includes: cannery contracts, legal invoices, lecture manuscripts, and a diary. The Cecelia Davies Sylvester series includes: an autograph book, and scrapbooks containing clippings, photographs and ephemera. The Family ephemera series includes: biographical information, documents, pamphlets and publications. The Photographs series includes: photographs, negatives, and glass plate negatives.

Audrey Alexandra Brown fonds

The fonds consists of manuscripts published and unpublished, which include juvenilia, poetry and story drafts, and the author's annual holograph gatherings of completed poems. The fonds includes public addresses, children's stories, periodical off prints, page proofs of A Dryad in Nanaimo, reviews, family and biographical items, photographs, certificates, recordings of poems set to music, a printers plate, biographical material, and correspondence. Correspondence includes 34 letters from former Prime Minister Robert Borden. Artwork often accompanies juvenilia verse and later children's stories; the media used include: ink on paper illustrations, pencil sketches, and watercolour drawings. Newspaper clippings include the author's columns, stories and poems. Also included are photocopies of 60 letters written by Audrey Brown to Professor Pelham Edgar (1929-47). The originals are in the Pelham Edgar collection at Victoria University, Toronto. The fonds also consists of: newspaper clippings and biographical material re Audrey Alexandra Brown and her family; correspondence between Brown and Pelham Edgar; correspondence between Brown and Earle Birney; correspondence from Martin Burrell to Pelham Edgar re Brown; manuscripts by Brown.

Dickens Fellowship (Victoria Branch) fonds

The fonds of the Victoria Branch of the Dickens Fellowship is comprised of documents reflecting the activities of the Branch, such as correspondence, meeting minutes, membership information, programmes, scrapbooks, posters, menus, and financial records, dating from 1913 to 1998. The fonds also includes ephemera pertaining to British author Charles Dickens, including scrapbooks, greeting cards, and portraits, which the Dickens Fellowship compiled. The fonds is a window into the Fellowship’s founding, originally as the Victoria Dickens Club, events, and connection with other branches and the Dickens Fellowship. Many of the documents reflect the work of Dorothy Hewitt White who served the Fellowship in several capacities. The fonds provides insight into the ways in which Charles Dickens has been read, performed, and commemorated in Victoria, and more broadly, the social activities of a literary society in Victoria, predominantly in the first half of the twentieth-century.
