The fonds consists of typescripts of an unpublished novel "The Harmless Snake"; 3 unpublished books of poetry: "The Simon Poems", "Thy Harry's Company", "A Motley to the View"; typescript copies of five Egoyan screenplays (reworked by Bell) including: "Family Viewing" (1987) in 3 drafts; "Speaking Parts" (1989) in 5 drafts; The Adjuster (1991) 1 draft, "Exotica" (1995) 1 draft (not reworked by Bell) and "The Sweet Hereafter" (1997) in 3 drafts; some additional holograph notes and a notebook regarding the scripts and correspondence from Atom Egoyan to Bell 1985-1995 regarding the films. Additionally, there is correspondence from Irving Layton and others.

Series consists of digital records predominately pertaining to "The Mind of A Child"; "Pride and Prejudice: The Road to Human Rights and Multiculturalism in British Columbia"; "Queen’s Harbour: First Nations Education, 1860-1970"; and other related projects.

Video interviews with Lorna Wanosts'a7 Williams and Gary Marcuse recorded in 2019 for the University of Victoria and Survival International are also included.

The fonds consists of correspondence, published and unpublished literary works, notebooks, sketchbooks, desk diaries, financial accounts and agreements, and ephemera. Many letters include enclosures such as pamphlets, manuscripts, drawings, reports, plans, contracts, scripts, clippings, and bills. The correspondence series include occasional replies from Betjeman. Fonds consists of research files for his private consulting work, with some material by colleagues and students from the Centre for Public Sector Studies mixed in. Most of the files contain photocopies of studies and submission by First Nations bands and organizations, government documents and reports, journal articles, brochures, and clippings. Many have been originally marked as attachments, but some of the number sequences are no longer complete. There are very few holograph markings or notes, and hardly any manuscript material.

The fonds consists firstly, of correspondence from many well known writers such as Margaret Atwood, Doug Beardsley, bill bissett, George Bowering, Marilyn Bowering, Robert Bringhurst, Barry Callaghan, Lorna Crozier, William Deverell, Timothy Findley, John Glassco, Robert Harlow, David Homel, Patrick Lane, Dennis Lee, Charles Lillard, Dorothy Livesay, Susan Musgrave, John Newlove, Sharon Olds, Michael Ondaatje, P.K. Page, George Payerle, Al Purdy, Joe Rosenblatt, Jane Rule, Jane Urqhuhart, and Sean Virgo. It is arranged in alphabetic series. Secondly, there are prose and poetry manuscripts. These are roughly divided into poetry and prose, with some large sections of late drafts intact. Thirdly, there are materials relating to the Writer's Union of Canada, Writers in Electronic Residence, political press clippings, material about his libel trial, and miscellaneous printed material.

The fonds consists of documents relating to Celu Amberstone's writing career. Records consist of poetry, playscripts, children's prose, notes for readings, publishing contracts, review clippings, correspondence, and acceptance and rejection letters from publishers and editors. The fonds also includes a proof copy of The Dreamer's Legacy by Celu Amberstone, and House of Commons Special Committee on the Disabled and Handicapped publication, "Native Population: Follow-up Report" (1981), which features a profile of Amberstone/Barbara Smith. The fonds is also comprised of digital text files of Amberstone's writings and e-book versions of her publications.
