The fonds consists of records relating to the preparation of "Letters from Sooke: A Correspondence Between Sir Herbert Read and George Woodcock", including correspondence of Patrick Healey, Benedict Read, George Woodcock, and Howard Gerwing. Also included are a few bound copies of "Letters from Sooke" and a quantity of unbound leaves.

Douglas Goldring fonds

The fonds consists of drafts of his works, including handwritten manuscripts, typescripts and carbon copies with sometimes extensive corrections of much of his published work and several unpublished titles; correspondence from personal friends and publishers; Goldring's letters to the editor; diaries and notebooks, 1903-1960; newspaper clipping files; and a Goldring biography file. Names of correspondents include: Richard Aldington, John Betjeman, T.S. Eliot, Emma Goldman, Aldous Huxley, W.S. Maugham, and Alec and Evelyn Waugh. The largest correspondence files are from Mary Butts, Ethel Mannin and Louis Wilkinson. Also included is a file of correspondence from Betty Duncan to Conal O'Riordan. She later became Goldring's first wife and the mother of his two children.

The collection consists of Graves' autograph diary (1935-1939), with enclosures including letters from his children, photographs, clippings, and transcripts of poems, articles and letters; correspondence written by Graves to various people, including Isla Cameron, Selwyn Jepson, Aemilia Laracuen, Andrew Mylett, and Raphael Patai; poetry worksheets (1965-1970) and prose and poetry worksheets (1970); manuscripts including essays, reviews, forewords, prefaces, articles, lectures, and for the works "King Jesus", "The Anger of Achilles", "Hebrew Myths: The Book of Genesis", "Greek Gods and Heroes", "An Ancient Castle", "La Luna de los Perros", and "Juvenalia and Other Poems"; photographs; and drawings of Majorca by Paul Hogarth. The collection is arranged in lots as its various parts were acquired not as a single purchase but from different book dealers at different times. The collection also consists of a copy of a letter from Robert Graves to UBC chemist Lionel Harrison with sample pages from the poetry book it refers to. The collection also consists of a portrait of RG by John Ulbricht done in 1968.

The collection consists of letters written by Forster to Randall. They concern, firstly, his trip to Rumania, where he stayed with the Randalls; a tour in France in 1928; and his journey home. Later letters include references to such literary people as Herbert Read, Harold Monro and T.S. Eliot, plus a mention of reading James Joyce's "Ulysses". He also refers to his visit to Africa and his sentiments about the Spanish Civil War and W.W.II. Most of the later letters are signed "Morgan".

Orage, George Orwell, Robert Payne, Kathleen Raine, Stephen Spender, Adrian Stokes, Allen Tate, Arthur W. Wheen, George Woodcock and Wilhelm Worringer. Also included are notebooks, worksheets, proofs and mimeographed BBC programs; mostly from the 1950s and 1960s.

The fonds consists primarily of typescripts, together with a proof copy and dust jacket of "Ruth Pitter: Homage to a Poet"[1969]. In addition, there is some correspondence to Russell from some of the potential contributors to the book, including John Betjeman, Philip Larkin, Norman MacCaig, John Masefield, and Iris Murdoch.

Armstrong (John Gawsworth), John Betjeman, Shelagh Delaney, Joseph Delteil, Eleanor Farjeon, Graham Greene, Alyse Gregory (widow of L. Powys), Arthur Machen, John Cowper Powys, Stevie Smith, Una Troubridge, Sylvia Townsend Warner and Louis Wilkinson. Also included in the fonds is a small amount of earlier correspondence from G.K. Chesterton to Father Vincent McNabb (1926) and from Eric Gill to Clare Pepler (1922-25).

George Bernard Shaw collection

The collection consists of manuscript material, consisting of a carbon typescript, corrected of "An Explanation" (being the preface to Shaw's edition of the Shaw-Ellen Terry correspondence); a manuscript of "Motives of Socialism"; and marked proofs for "Shaw Speaks on War" (a transcript of a short wave broadcast in 1937). Also included is correspondence with Elbridge Adams, Hubert Bland, William Archer, William J. Pickerell, and Harold Laski, together with correspondence from Janet Achurch to Hubert Bland. There is also a small amount of ephemera.
