Towards the middle of notebook are drafts of a different version of the poem At Thurgarton Church, with variants (15 pp.). Also included is "Letters to the Dead" (12 pp.) addressed "To Robert Colquhoun" (1914-1962). In addition, there are comments on poetry and epigrams on poets including: Cyril Connolly, Stephen Spender, Roy Fuller, A. Alvarez, Cecil, Eliot, Louis, MacNeice, Kathleen Raine, Middleton Murray, David Gascoygne, Dylan Thomas, A.S. Frazer, John Betjeman, Thomas Hardy, James Joyce, Robert Lowell, Nabokov, Richard Wilbur, Roethke, Thom Gunn, Ted Hughes, Philip Larkin and Ezra Pound.
