Ann Kipling fonds

These fonds feature an extensive collection of art journals, exhibition catalogues, news articles, and gallery publications featuring Kipling’s art and interviews across her entire professional career. Nearly every exhibition and publication Kipling participated in is represented through gallery paraphernalia, photo slides of gallery artwork, newspaper and magazine issues, and official correspondence with institutions and publishers. The vast majority of the collection is correspondence with Canadian art institutions and personal correspondence with other members of the Canadian art community such as Gordon Smith, Robin Laurence, Chris Varley, Ian Thom, and Joan Lowndes. Also included are photos of the artist, award statues and certificates, and a large collection of art slides. As well, there is a wealth of photos of her family, friends, and home, which were her main artistic inspirations, and documents related to the artistic career of her husband Leonhard Epp.

The fonds is arranged in series that compile different aspects of both her professional and personal life. Correspondence with Institutions consists of letters to various galleries, museums, and other heritage institutions, while Correspondence with Art Professionals consists of letters written to Kipling's close network in the Canadian art community. Art Services and Supplies consists of correspondence and catalogues related to Kipling's art supplies. Promotional Materials consists of material related to Kipling's exhibitions, art shows, and press releases, and is arranged in the following subseries: Serials, which consists of magazines and exhibition catalogues; Press Releases, which consists of newspaper clippings and articles; and Photos and Audiovisual Materials, which consists of promotional photos of both Kipling and her art, as well as some video interviews. Art Slides consists of slides of artwork used as samples of Kipling's work. Personal Belongings consists of Kipling's personal materials and has a variety of materials dedicated to her early life, correspondence with friends and family, and family history; it also consists of the subseries Photos, which consists of family and farm photos. Bau-xi Court Case consists of correspondence, legal documents, and evidence related to Kipling's court case with the Bau-xi Gallery, and Leonhard Epp consists of materials related to the career and life of Kipling's partner. Miscellaneous consists of some personal documents related to Kipling's goat farming, social network, and work for art charities. The Objects series consists of some of Kipling's awards and personal objects related to her life.

Nicolas Rolland fonds

Fonds consist of Rolland's research and teaching materials over the course of approximately forty years in the following series: Research; Teaching; and Slides. The first consists of correspondence, research papers, handwritten notes, and a collection of diagrams, graphs, and photos, while the second consists of correspondence and teaching materials. The last series consists of slides related to paleolithic dig sites and artifacts and is organized by media type, as the slides were likely used in both Rolland's research and teaching endeavors.

War Diary

The accrual consists of the triplicate copy of the official War Diary of the 16th Battalion (The Canadian Scottish). The diary provides a daily summary of events, actions, activities, etc. from the time the Regiment went overseas at the start of the First World War to the time it returned to Canada in April 1919.

Laszlo Hudec fonds

The fonds consists of approximately 550 presentation drawings, sketches, conceptual drawings, working drawings, technical drawings (inclusive of blueprints), travel sketches and photographs. These include exterior and interior renderings of plans and designs for work produced in both Europe and in China. The architectural collection consists of works by Hudec and two other unknown authors. The work of Hudec is transcribed in English, German and Chinese characters. The work of the unknown authors is transcribed in Hungarian and German. There are also two boxes of textual records including notes, notebooks, photo albums, documents, letters, memos, scrapbooks, photos, legal records, rare journals, and newspapers clippings.

The accession is comprised of photographs of Eric Metcalfe, his family, and friends (1950-2015); ephemera relating to: Western Front, Mr. Peanut, Dr. Brute and Lady Brute, and production of Laura.

Artwork

The accession is comprised of artwork collected by Eric Metcalfe and Karen Henry. Three artworks, by Jack Shadbolt (Accession: U024.5.1 ), Richard Ciccimarra (Accession: U024.5.2 ), and Nita Forrest (Accession: U024.5.3) were transferred to the Legacy Art Galleries. The accession also included two published works, a Pat Martin Bates exhibition catalogue (1972) and Margaret Peterson exhibition catalogue (undated), were removed and catalogued for Special Collections.

Photographs

The accession is comprised of five photographs of Eric Metcalfe, Nita Forrest, Peter Daglish, and Kate Craig dating from the 1960s-1980s.
