The fonds consists of correspondence and drafts of poetry, plays and prose providing a window into the professional life of Tony Connor. The fonds contains drafts of Connor's collections, including With Love Somehow (1962), Things Unsaid: New and Selected Poems 1960–2005 (2006), and The Empty Air (2012). Correspondence includes letters from Connor to academic Larry Vonalt and from Hungarian-British poet George Gomori.

The digital files consist of poetry drafts and are dated from 2007 to 2021 according to their "Last Modified" dates. Original​​ file ​​formats ​​include ​​.doc​ and .docx files.

Ten notebooks and workbooks covering the period 1957 to 1966. All holograph, either pencil or ink. Approximately 1675 pages of notes, verse and rhyme patterns, drafts, fragments and complete poems and variants.

Green hardbacked notebook

Green hardbacked notebook, 8 x 5 ins, with, on end-paper, "Tony Connor, 1957". 68 leaves, 134 pages. This notebook has been used from both ends. The margins of some leaves have been torn; [but not] to interfere with the writing on the pages. A number of leaves [14] have been cut from one end of the book.

Maroon hardbacked notebook

Maroon hardbacked notebook 10 x 8 ins. with "June 8th 1965" on first end-paper. 133 leaves, 243 pages. This appears to have been co-existant with 1.9. as that notebook starts at one end with prose notes and copies of other person's poems but, starting from the other end, has Tony Connor's own poetry.

Off-white soft covered notebook

Off-white soft covered notebook, 10 1/4 x 8 ins. with "Tony Connor 44, George Street, Cheetham Hill, Manchester. June 1959." inscribed on the front cover. 46 leaves, 84 pages. There are three inscriptions in the handwriting of W.S. Graham the poet and on one page there are alternate rhymes in Graham's and Connor's writing.

Dark marbled hardbacked notebook

Dark marbled hardbacked notebook 11 x 8 1/2 ins. The pages are headed: "The Calico Printer's Association Ltd., Manchester, England." with alternate copy leaves. The book commences two leaves before that numbered 183. The earlier numbered leaves have been detached. 98 leaves, 151 pages.

Black hardbacked notebook

Black hardbacked notebook 10 x 8 ins. The first page is lettered: LECTURE NOTES, and the first 23 leaves, 30 pages, have notes on the printing of textiles with examples and colored diagrams of printing processes. Three pages of these 23 leaves have poetry notes. There are a further 119 pages, 83 leaves, also.

Dark green hardbacked notebook

Dark green hardbacked notebook 10 x 8 ins. with "Begun about January 1962. Finished April 1963". on end-paper, 69 leaves, 136 pages.
