Chad Evans fonds

The fonds consists primarily of drafts and research materials used to write his book "Frontier Theatre: A History of Nineteenth Century Theatrical Entertainment in the Canadian Far West and Alaska", published in 1982. Fonds includes musical scores and librettos, programs, photographs, scrapbook and four unpublished plays: "Murder Pattern," 1936; "Ascend as the Sun"; "Earth Song", by Herman Voaden; and "The Dragon", by Bertram Brooker.

Fonds consists of manuscripts, correspondence, family documents, photographs, memorabilia about Georgia and Abkhazi family, and miscellaneous pamphlets. The manuscripts include a typescript of "Manuscript of (Mrs.) Peggy Pemberton-Carter written during internment in Lunghua Prison Camp, Shanghai", accompanying watercolours by Deirdre Fee and Lilian Schlee; typescript of "Dragon Aunt Remembers, 1900-1980", unpublished; photocopy of typescript "The Curious Cage", and an extensive photograph collection of the development of the Abkhazi garden.

Theatrical engravings collection

The collection consists of engravings of English actors/actresses, many in the costume of a character. There are also some engravings of playwrights. All appear to have been excised from publications and are identified.

The fonds consists of four volumes of photographs, the first of which also contains drawings. The drawings commence in 1846 (done by family friend) and recommence in 1884 (done by JHA and friends). The final drawing seems to be 1890. The photographs cover the period 1884-1909. They begin in England and also cover Ireland, St. Helena, South Africa, and Scotland. Some have a military setting but some are scenic and social.

The collection consists of 11 mounted leaves of pen and ink drawings copied from various sources, with holograph notations. The costumes are from 1400-1720.

The collection consists of a scrapbook containing theatre programmes of plays, in which the Green-Armytages appeared, and clippings. The clippings are concerned with: Roman Catholicism, mostly about the"Catholic Controversy" of 1913; the works, career, and trial of Oscar Wilde together with the subsequent career and trials of Lord Alfred Douglas. In addition, there is a small amount of material concerning Hilaire Belloc. Included are two clippings of Belloc poems, a handwritten letter from Belloc to the Bishop of Clifton, two handwritten letters from the Bishop of Clifton to R. N. Green-Armytage, and two handwritten letters from Belloc to Green-Armytage.

The collection consists of a woodblock and a signed pencil drawing of a "Mother and Child" (used as a Christmas card for the Peace Pledge Union); a collotype reproduction of a signed pencil drawing of David Pepler; a typed, signed letter to ? Henderson re: the Catholic Church and the Trade Union Movement, with a pencil draft on verso (illegible?); and eight signed engravings to illustrate Patrick Miller's "The Green Ship" (Golden Cockerel Press).
