The older photographs are mostly unidentified portraits with the more recent photographs including scenery and landscapes. Some of the locations photographed are identifiable and include Niagara Falls, Kamloops, Hamilton, Duluth, the Steamer United Empire, and Del Rio Orchard in Oregon. Also includes photographs and photograph albums illustrating historical photograph techniques, including daguerreotype, tin type, and albumen prints.

The Autobiography series consists of Archies autobiographical works, which document his service in World War I and his family life and career. It has been arranged into three sub-series: All in A Lifetime, My Life in the Army, and Travel. The Writing series consists of his published and unpublished work, and background material for it. The series shows his interest in making new generations of Victoria residents aware of their citys history and aware of World War I history. It has been arranged into two sub-series: Articles and Stories, and Broadcasts. Records include typed manuscripts, clippings of Archies published articles, photographs including photograph albums, diaries, scrapbooks, war medals, and ephemera.
The collection consists of diaries, photographs and other materials about the Colwell family during the time Dr. H. H. Colwell worked as a missionary doctor in India, as a medical doctor in the Indian army on the Northwest Frontier and the Mesopotamia Campaigns, and later as a missionary doctor on the BC coast.
The collection consists of a photograph album in an Japanese decorated lacquer case, done in the accordion manner. The two figures on the case have ivory heads inset. The album contains fifty 9.5 x 7.5 black and white photographs taken during the early part of the Boxer Rebellion, commencing in June 3 1900. It includes pictures of the destruction houses, larger buildings, railway lines, the capture of Chinese prisoners and various English, German and Japanese troops. Each photograph has its own typeset legend underneath.
