The fonds documents Aiyyana Maracle life and work as performance artist and writer, creator of and participant in arts festivals, her committee and conference work, scholarship, teaching, Six Nations land rights activism, transgender visibility and health projects, and personal activities. Records consist of textual records, graphic material, analog and digital sound and video recordings, and objects. Objects are comprised of garments, masks, accessories, animal bones and skins, and miscellaneous objects used in performance art and art installations. The fonds is arranged into ten series: performance art, visual art, writing, scholarship, conferences and committees, Six Nations activism, two-spirit and transgender material, notebooks and loose notes, personal records, and bibliographic records.

The fonds consists of records pertaining to the British Columbia Indian Language Project. This includes typescripts of works on the following: ethnobotany of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation; knowledge and usage of land mammals, birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians; studies of the Nuxalk Nation; Lillooet stories; and utilization of fish by the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation, St'át'imc Nation, Líl'wat Nation, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), Secwepemc, and Klahoose First Nation. Also included is a manuscript of "Indian Legends of the North Pacific Coast of America", translation by Dietrich Bertz of Franz Boas' work "Indianische Sagen von der Nord-Pacifischen Kuste Amerikas."

The fonds consists of documents relating to Celu Amberstone's writing career. Records consist of poetry, playscripts, children's prose, notes for readings, publishing contracts, review clippings, correspondence, and acceptance and rejection letters from publishers and editors. The fonds also includes a proof copy of The Dreamer's Legacy by Celu Amberstone, and House of Commons Special Committee on the Disabled and Handicapped publication, "Native Population: Follow-up Report" (1981), which features a profile of Amberstone/Barbara Smith. The fonds is also comprised of digital text files of Amberstone's writings and e-book versions of her publications.

Also included are 10 audio cassettes of the conferences, which are numbered but not identified.

Fonds consists of research files for his private consulting work, with some material by colleagues and students from the Centre for Public Sector Studies mixed in. Most of the files contain photocopies of studies and submission by native bands and organizations, government documents and reports, journal articles, brochures, and clippings. Many have been originally marked as attachments, but some of the number sequences are no longer complete. There are very few holograph markings or notes, and hardly any manuscript material.

Fonds consists of drafts of essays, novels, short fiction, and transcripts of poetry; photographs of the prairie and British Columbian scenes; correspondence; family certificates and financial records; publishing contracts and agreements; draft chapters of The North American Buffalo and The Canadian Buffalo Today; two copies of The North American Buffalo with annotations and microfilm copy; Roe’s articles of buffalo, agriculture, Shakespeare and Marlowe; variant drafts of Getting the Know-How; reference files including journals, brochures, and pamphlets; CPR time books and railroad operating booklets; maps, some drawn by Roe, of western Canada and the northern USA showing actual and proposed railway lines, the buffalo range, Indian trails and the extermination of the American bison; one audio tape of a 1971 interview with Roe by Naomi Radford.

Helen Christie Riel Rebellion collection

The collection consists of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings on the Riel Rebellion, including several maps and political cartoons. Also included are three loose clippings regarding Helen's father,1857; Fish Creek casualties, 1935; and an obituary of her youngest brother; 1954. Most clippings are undated, and the source not noted. The clippings are pasted into a copy of Canada Under the National Policy. The volume is inscribed, "Helen Christie, April 4th 1875."
