The fonds consists of the personal diaries kept by Lieutenant Colonel Bapty from 1935 to 1942, as well as a collection of various memorandums, reports, and ephemera from this period. It also contains addresses, essays and lectures given by Bapty on military matters, including modern developments in warfare, the Scottish regiments, discipline and leadership, Pacific problems during World War II, and the objectives of military training; records of the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's), 2nd Battalion, including slate of officers, lists of exercises, correspondence and operation orders; personal records of Walter Bapty, including commissions and certificates, personal correspondence, records relating to militia staff courses and nominal roll for officers in medical courses; newspapers and clippings dealing with Bapty's participation in the Boer War and World War II, and Bapty's obituary; drawing of Bapty, photograph of Mrs. Bapty, and photographs of Bapty with the Canadian Scottish Regiment.

The fonds consists of records of the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's). Primarily, the fonds contains the official war diaries kept by the regiment during World War Two. The diaries contain the daily logs, intelligence reports, orders, and newsletters, as well as records of individual experiences, of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Battalions. A collection of maps and aerial photographs accompany these war diaries. The fonds also contains regimental records on training, dress regulations, personnel, the Bay Street Armoury, finances, and regimental correspondence. Additionally, the fonds includes the original manuscript and correspondence pertaining to historian Dr. Reginald Roy's book, "Ready for the Fray (Deas Gu Cath): the History of the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's) 1920-1955". Also included are the regimental publications, The Brazier, The Courtenay Camp Chronicle, and The Maple Leaf. The fonds is arranged into 22 alphabetically organized series consisting of records generated and utilized by the Canadian Scottish Regiment from its creation in 1920 to the present.

16th Battalion (The Canadian Scottish) fonds

The fonds consists of records generated and utilized by the 16th Battalion (The Canadian Scottish). The fonds is arranged into 11 alphabetically organized series. These series include aerial photographs of the Western Front, information of a World War One operation at the city of Lens, orders issued to the Battalion, personnel records, photographs, publications (including early editions of "The Brazier"), reports, scrapbooks, information on training, minutes of meetings of the Veterans Association of the 16th Battalion, and a design for the 16th Battalion war memorial.

The fonds consists of instructional material, much of it technical, pertaining to the training of a divisional artillery and artillery officers; instructions for units proceedings overseas; artillery defence schemes; operation orders, and instructions for activities at the front; including the Ypres area and on the Somme. Notes regarding the establishment of the 4th/ 5th Cdn. Div. Arty.; and relating to forward observation officers (F.O.O.'s); a report covers a visit by Maj. Gen. A. W. Currie to the Verdun battlefield, Jan., 1917. Several instructions relate to the attack on Vimy Ridge: one with maps for Counter Battery operations; reports of the assault April 9,1917; and defence schemes (5th Cdn. Div. Arty) in 1917. There are extracts of instructions for trench mortar officers; material on gunnery, ammunition, maps and air photographs; copies of messages; instruction etc. for Nov. Dec. 1918. There are maps of areas in Germany occupied by the Cdn. Crops. (Cologne and Bonn). Photos relate to Valcartier Camp, 1914, overseas operations including the Western Front and Aerial photos. There is a scrapbook "relating to the life and service of Brig. General W. O. H. Dodds." Others series include military and civilian correspondence and army instruction booklets and pamphlets.

Millar was a staff photographer of the Montreal Daily Star and produced the album in 1915.
