Name of creator
John Francis Simister (21 June 1865 to 20 September 1945) was a tailor and outfitter in Salford, Manchester. Prior to World War I, he emigrated from Manchester to Canada. In Sidney B.C., he ran a dry goods (draper) store on Beacon Avenue. He died in Victoria, B.C. in 1945.
Scope and content
The collection consists of J. F. Simister's calling card; photocopies of advertisements for Simister's Dry Goods Store from the Sidney Review, 1934; a photograph of Simister in front of his shop; a letter to Simister from Robinson, Little & Co. Limited (London and Winnipeg) dated 21 December 1927.
