The fonds consists of: 1) correspondence - mainly with fellow writers including Patrick Lane, Susan Musgrave, George Payerle, Robin Skelton, and George Woodcock and with publishers; 2) manuscripts - mainly of his own poetry, drama, and prose, including a BC Bibliography of Literature; 3) notebooks - in which appear ideas, diary entries, drafts of work, etc.; and 4) audio cassettes (not yet listed).

Fonds consists of records documenting Johnson's political and business careers, including constitutions and bylaws of political organizations, trade agreements, political cartoons and clippings; business records including correspondence, daily journals, financial records and contracts; personal family correspondence and insurance records, Johnson's army diary, and records relating to Byron's father, Oliver Johnson; photographs of the Johnson family and of Johnson with his cabinet and colleagues; correspondence regarding Johnson's work with the RCAF; publications, including newsletters, magazines, journals, annual reports and copies of speeches, some of which are annotated by Johnson or contain photographs, articles or obituaries about him; records regarding the visit of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip to Victoria, October 1951, including invitations to functions and photograph album of the visit prepared by the Daily Colonist newspaper.

Fonds consists of research files arranged in alphabetical order; a selection of file titles includes: Alternate energy, Clayoquot Resource Centre, Dube Symposium, Insecticides, Military, Seed banks, Tooth survey form, UVic-- Dangerous organisms, and Voice of Women. The newsletters and pamphlets have been transferred to the Voice of Women pamphlet collection.

Fonds consists of 6 series: Khutzeymateen, 1981-1993; Ecological Reserves, 1972-1989; Reports, 1982-1996; Photographs, ca.1987; Audiocassettes, 1987-1988; Videos, 1987-1990. The Khutzeymateen series consists of correspondence, grizzly sanctuary proposals, maps, educational programming, press clippings, and office files. The Ecological Reserves series consists of maps and descriptions of B.C. reserves. The Reports series consists of reports on bear, timber, and ecological studies, management proposals, and other publications. The Photographs series consists of Khutzeymateen slides and prints. The Audiocassettes series consists of lectures. The Video series consists of videos about grizzlies in the Khutzeymateen and Canada, and wilderness issues.

Collection consists of 23 pamphlets from a variety of authors including: G.D.H. Cole, Frank Hanson, Sidney Hook, F.R. Scott, G. Bernard Shaw, and J.S. Woodsworth. Collection arranged in alphabetical order by author.
