Limners fonds

Fonds documents the activities of the Victoria Limners Society from 1972-2008 and includes correspondence, meeting minutes, financial records and society filings. It also contains records related to various group exhibits, including the Limners’ 25th anniversary exhibition in 1996, as well as records related to a book and video produced about the group. A small number of newspaper clippings, exhibition pamphlets, various editions of a booklet on the Limners Society artists and black and white photographs showing Limner members at exhibitions and meetings can be found in this fonds. This fonds has been arranged into into six series: 1) letters; 2) minutes; 3) financial records; 4) society filings; 5) 25th anniversary exhibition; and 6) publications and graphic materials.

Fonds consists of records created and used by Segger in his activities with the B.C. Heritage Trust and Advisory Board, the Heritage Canada Foundation, the City of Victoria Heritage Advisory Committee, the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway Committee, and with projects by University of Victoria students in architecture history. Fonds includes summaries of heritage preservation projects, minutes, correspondence, architectural drawings, newsclippings, policy statements, proposals for scholarships and building projects, newsletters, conference material, zoning information, flow charts, membership surveys, and architectural history projects undertaken by Segger's students; records of Segger's books and articles about Samuel Maclure; and, copies of photographs of houses designed by Maclure.

Fonds consist primarily of the correspondence and manuscripts of Dr. Michael Waldichuk specific to environmental issues on the Canadian Pacific coast. The fonds consist of four series: Personal, Cine-film, Pacific Coast Entire, and Pacific Coast Regions. The Personal series contains correspondence, records containing information about Dr. Waldichuk’s academic and professional career, and a bibliography of publications written by Dr. Waldichuk. The Cine-film series consists of 275 metres of film documenting survey procedures, particularly at Crofton Pulp Mill. The Pacific Coast Entire series consists of documents relating to the Pacific Coast as a whole. Pacific Coast Region consists of documents organized into 15 sub-series identified by environmentally distinct regions. The fonds also contains publications received by Dr. Waldichuk in the course of his activities.

Fonds documents George's efforts to preserve wilderness and wildlife endangered by logging interests on the Queen Charlotte Islands. The fonds includes correspondence, reports, scientific studies, public surveys, newsletters and maps. Fonds consists of two series:Marine Plants, and Water Quality (Aquatic Plant Management Program). The series document Newroths output as a professional aquatic biologist who was often supported by a large team of co-workers. The Marine Plant series includes unpublished manuscripts and publications on the biology of the red algal Genus Phyllophora and other members of the Family Phyllophoraceae, and related PhD research data, reference files, photographs, field and laboratory notes. This material makes reference to extensive dried plant and light microscope slide collections (mainly of North Atlantic, and Pacific Northwest marine plants) deposited in the Biology Department, University of Victoria.

The Water Quality series documents the evolution and development of the provincial governments Aquatic Plant Management Program (APMP), an innovative and comprehensive preventive and management program. Included are Newroths publications (1978-1994), information on introduced or exotic nuisance aquatic plants and animals in British Columbia fresh water systems, and approximately 100 technical reports on BC water bodies published by the province. The reports on APMP control and monitoring projects are grouped by the following geographic areas: Okanagan Lakes, Kalamalka and Wood Lakes, Cultus Lake, Christina Lake, Brannen Lake, Mara Lake (Little Shuswap), Shuswap Lake, Southern Vancouver Island and Lower Fraser Valley.
