Administrative history

The South Island Women in Trades & Technology (SIWITT) society was a non-profit organization dedicated to providing information, education, encouragement, and support for women in trades, technologies, blue collar, or operations careers. SIWITT began meeting in 1982, was incorporated in 1985 as the Victoria Women in Trades & Technology, and was incorporated a second time in 1995 as the South Island Women in Trades and Technology Society. The organization was non-profit, received grant funds from the provincial and federal government for their operations, and were affiliated with the national WITT program.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of a variety of SIWITT conference minutes and correspondence from 1992-2004, incorporation records from 1985-2005, conference evaluations, financial records, and some photographs. Fonds also includes plans for public events, group outings, lobbying action correspondence, and recruitment. There are also organization newsletters, newspaper clippings, tape cassette and VHS recordings of conferences, speeches, interviews and a recruitment VHS.
