Biology was taught at Victoria College by the following instructors: Jeffree Cunningham (1915-54), Ruth Fields (1938-42), W. Gordon Fields (1942-63), Winona Bethune (1952-55), Anne Gorham (1955-59), Arthur Fontaine (1956-63), Llewellya Hillis (1959-61), Marion Fontaine (1959-62), Diane Vaughan (1960-3), Edwin Hagmeier 91961-63), Clifford Carl (1961-62), and Marcus Bill (1962-63). In 1954, the Calendar gives the first listing for the Department of Biology, Botany and Zoology. Gordon Fields, Arthur Fontaine, Diane Vaughan, Edwin Hagmeier, and Marcus Bell continued in the Department when the University of Victoria was established in 1963.
