Institutionele geschiedenis
The Western Canadian Universities Marine Biological Society was created in 1969. The objects of the Society are: to foster instruction and research in marine biology; to hold and operate properties and facilities of the society; and, to operate as a non-profit educational organization. The Society operates a research facility near the village of Bamfield on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

The fonds was transferred to the University of Victoria from Simon Fraser University in 2000.

The fonds consists of the following series: general correspondence (1968-1984); Management Council agenda, minutes and reports (1971-1985); committee agenda, minutes, correspondence, and papers (1969-1984); publications (1969-1980); grant applications and correspondence (1969-1980); budgets (1970-1985); reports (1968-1982); legal documents (1967-1983); members list (1974-1979); and job descriptions (1973-1982). Also included are architectural drawings for the Bamfield Marine Biological Station.
